lookdownlookout 23.1.11

Last weekend we went to Belhaven beach for a wintery walk and to see our friends have an insanely cold January surf. The sky looked weird and almost stripy but it was lovely to be out in the blustery cold, getting the cobwebs well and truly blown off.

I started back at my jewellery course tonight for the first time this year. The studio is tucked away just off Leith Walk and always feels full of promise, especially when you get to have a go at using all those tools. I especially like the way the floor looks in this picture with the orange coming through the grey.

Sale shopping on Princes St felt particularly lovely today after it snowed again last night. I think that everyone is pretty fed up with the cold weather at this stage, but you can't deny it makes Edinburgh look pretty damn good.

The twelve days of Christmas are up and the trees are out!

I took these pictures at the airport when I was coming back to Edinburgh. I think that Belfast International Airport looks quite depressing at the best of times and none moreso than on a Thursday in January at the end of the Christmas holidays.

lookdownlookout 1.1.11

Went for a new year walk between Moville and Greencastle. Feeling quite proud of myself for actually leaving the house on the 1st January - what a good start to the year.

Visiting Molly in Redcastle, Donegal. The view from her house is very pretty.

the idea behind the blog

Simple - this is a bit of an experiment into the world of blogging for me. After thinking about it for way too long, I decided to just START with an idea that I had.

This blog is intended to be a bit of a visual diary of places I've been and seen over the year. Because of my job I don't want it to become too personal but thought that it could be interesting to record the places I've been by taking photos looking down and looking out. If it's any good other people might want to contribute so we'll see what happens.

Anyway, that's the thinking behind lookdownlookout. I hope you enjoy. x
